From the vault …

All too often as photographers we tend to ‘side line’ a wide number of images we have taken in the hope that we could come back and revisit them one day.   If you shoot RAW, as I do, we become particularly strict with our work flow as the more we accept to add into our library the more we simply have to process!  Images that make the cut immediately are all well and good but what about those images that don’t immediately jump out at you?  Sometimes one has to simply walk away from them and look at them again in fresh light later on down the track.  Many shots simply get discarded completely, but some suddenly jump out and you end up thinking why didn’t I see this before?

On the odd occasion when time and inclination comes together I browse through some of my older work (from a few months to a few years) and pour over the RAW files to see if there is indeed something I could use.  I did this recently and processed a mixture of shots that were taken earlier this year.   Some are from Vietnam, some from Cambodia.  All in all it is a mixed bag of images without any story to tell as I processed them as they came to me in the browser but it just goes to show that it is always worth keeping every single image you have taken (if storage allows) as there may still be some gems amongst them.

I have only scratched the surface with this batch.  If I go any further this work alone with take me over!  I will submit batches from my past catalogue as time goes on.  Hope you enjoy them.

So pleased that you posted these images finally, and especially the two from the 30th April celebrations – as you know the ‘Viet Boy’ image is one of my all time faves from all your work… an iconic photo!
